FAQ’s

Q. What services do you offer?

I provide individual counselling for mental health and emotional well-being, as well as integrated counselling and nutrition sessions that also provide personalised nutrition therapy to support physical and mental health goals. My speciality is supporting women through their peri-menopause journey.

Q. Can I work with you if I don’t live in the same area?

A. Yes, I offer virtual Telehealth and telephone counselling and nutrition sessions, so you can access support no matter where you are. I am committed to supporting people no matter where they reside.

Q. Do I need to provide anything before our session?

A. When you book your initial counselling session an intake and consent form will be sent to you. If you fill these in and send back that is all you need to provide before our session.

Q. Is everything we talk about private?

A. Yes, our sessions are confidential. We adhere to professional ethics and privacy laws to protect your personal information.

Q. How long are the therapy sessions?

A. Sessions typically last 60 minutes for our initial and 45 minutes for follow-up sessions, though we can discuss longer sessions if needed.

Q. How many sessions will I need?

A. The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from just a few sessions, while others may choose ongoing support. We’ll discuss your progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Q. What is the difference between a counsellor and psychologist?

A. A counsellor provides guidance on specific issues like stress, relationships, or career challenges, focusing on coping and personal growth. Psychologists are trained to diagnose and treat a broader range of mental health disorders, often using more in-depth therapy and assessments. While both offer support, psychologists typically have more extensive mental health training and can conduct formal psychological testing.

Q. What can I expect during a counselling session?

A. Beginning therapy for the first time can be daunting, anxiety-provoking, and maybe even fill you with feelings of dread, but rest assured in our first session I’ll create a warm and supportive space where we can talk openly about your goals and any challenges you’re experiencing. This safe, non-judgmental environment is for you to share what’s on your mind. Together, we’ll explore the best ways to support you and work towards developing a personalised plan that reflects your unique needs and priorities. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout our work together.

Q. What if I don’t feel comfortable right away?

A. It’s completely normal to take some time to feel comfortable. I work at your pace, and you are always in control of the process. If at any point you feel uncertain, please let me know so we can adjust the approach to better suit you.

Q. Can counselling help with anxiety or stress?

A. Absolutely. Counselling can help you explore the root causes of anxiety or stress and provide coping strategies to manage your symptoms. We’ll work together to develop tools and techniques that support your mental well-being. Additionally, nutrition plays a big part in anxiety so I will also be able view and address any nutrient deficiencies in our Nutritional Counselling sessions.

Q. How do I know if counselling or nutrition counselling is right for me?

A. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or looking to improve your well-being, therapy and nutrition counselling can offer support and guidance.

Q. How do I know if I need both counselling and nutrition therapy?

A. If you’re struggling with both emotional challenges (like stress, anxiety, or depression) and physical health issues (like fatigue, digestive problems, or nutrition concerns), combining counselling and nutrition can help address both aspects of your well-being. We are holistic beings, where all systems are deeply interconnected, which is why this integrated approach is so effective in promoting overall health and healing.

Q. What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

A. I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Please call or email to make changes.

Q. Can you help with both mental health and physical health goals?
A. Yes, I integrate counselling and nutrition therapy to address both mental and physical well-being, as they are closely linked. I am a qualified Nutritionist, Naturopath and Herbalist as well as being an ACA accredited Counsellor, and have extensive experience in natural medicine.

Q. Can I see a nutritionist if I don’t have a specific diagnosis?

A. Yes! Nutritional medicine is not just for those with medical diagnoses. It focuses on using food and nutrition to support both your physical and mental health. We’ll explore your eating habits, health history, and personal goals, then create a tailored nutrition plan to suit your unique needs. Nutrition therapy can also help with general wellness, boosting energy, weight management, digestive issues, and mental clarity. As a preventative approach, it offers support to enhance overall well-being, and everyone can benefit from personalised guidance to nourish both body and mind.

Q. Can I claim from my Private Health Insurer

A. Please contact your insurance company to check your coverage. I have a Provider Number for Nutrition Consultations and also eligibility for Counselling with the following Private Health Insurers: Doctors Health Fund and Grand United.
